EDUCATION & ABOUT ME
Titles and Experience |
My name is Tracy J. Westrom. The titles I have held since entering education include teacher or coach, but the most important roles I have had are my personal ones of sister, daughter, and most of all mom. Each role shapes a part of who I am.
Our experiences shape everything we do and have taught me patience, empathy, understanding, and balance to be successful at home and at school. My education growing up was a mixture of private and public schools in multiple states. I grew up with parents who valued education, and I strongly echo their belief that education is the one factor that can still change someone's world. My legacy as an educator began at a private school in Woodbury, MN called New Life Academy. I only taught there one year and continued working in politics for a couple years before continuing my experience in Gwinnett County, Georgia. I taught in three public schools there (Dacula Elementary School (ES), Mason ES, and Burnette ES) in one of the biggest counties with the most diverse population in the country. I coached high school volleyball for two different high schools (Dacula High School (HS) & Peachtree Ridge HS) until I switched to refereeing throughout the county. Teaching in communities of all kinds has led me to believe even more strongly that we need to educate all and train the next generation. Currently I now teach in Ashby, MN when I moved back to MN to be closer to family and it is the opposite scenario with a rural K-12 public education school. During my time teaching I chose to pursue a Masters of Leadership through Mercer University with a desire to continue to reach more students and have them live in their greatest potential. I also attained a specialist of Teaching and Learning through Piedmont College (now named Piedmont University). Whether I have been teaching, coaching or in an administrative role I know my passion for education and work ethic has helped others find their strengths and pursue their own dreams. The best leadership comes when we can work together to accomplish more and utilize the strengths of the entire group. Now I hope to reach the future generation and leave a legacy through a career in Education Administration. |
